Just travelling down to Weymouth for the week-end on Friday night when my youngest (aged 7) shouts out .... "Mum, Jordan's face has blowed up like a puffer fish" - I looked round ..... too late

Without going into too much detail (carrots, lumpy bits, saliva etc), I pulled over and got my eldest (aged 10) out of the car .... sick all over his sleeping bag, pillow and down the back of the passenger's seat .... lovely!

Now, my question is - as there are so many of you out there with sproggies - what's the best thing for getting the smell out of the car - your advice would be very helpful.

Not a nice thread I know, but thank you in advance

ps. He's been alright over the week-end although we did need to hit the hard shoulder of the M27 and then the A3 on the way home last night - and no, I don't think it's car sickness, he's done 1000's of miles in the back of the Scoob - picked him up from school and he had tummy ache already!

Its horrible when that happens, my daughter did it on the way to the airport one time, you can imagine what it was like when we got back a week later, we'd got most of it off but it takes a while to get rid of the smell. I think we just used upholstery cleaner and leave it in the garage with the windows open when you can!!

It's happened to me a couple of times and Febreeze is the only thing I could find that works.

It does take a few applications (weeks) though !

yeah, try febreze or try some old perfume then vaccuum it afterwards
happened in the beamer and it took a while to clean up...my dad's shoulder aswell lol

Bicarbonate of soda as you clean it up will help then Febreze as the weeks go on.

Best way is not to have kids in the car. Give them bus fare or buy one of these roofboxes for them

Get a car with leather !

I remember my nipper did it after eating a big bag of flumps. Look like a load of pink foam all over the back seats. Febreeze is good for this type of thing.

Hope you are well Jo, long time no see!

Anyway... you'll have a hard time cleaning it all up, without removing the seat.

It's straight forward to do on a classic (I've never demantled a new age car), but the rear bench is only held on with two (14mm IIRC) bolts and the bench unhooks.

The top part of the seat is only held in place with 3 bolts, which will be revealed once the bench is removed.

Bicarbonate of Soda as recommended in the clean up, Febreze will hide the smell, as will Autogleam air freshener.

After a night of drinking at a christmas party last year, my GF got very ill in the front of my 30AE Type-R... would not have been so bad, but I was due to pick up my new scoob and part exchange it two days later

Hi Andy - hope you and Caroline are well? Thanks for the tip on the seat removal - luckily it was on the back of the passenger's seat (just missed Dave!) and so all down the back - also found some more lumps today in where the seatbelt goes into the floor so had to remove plastic trim and carpet - kid's, don't you just love 'em

Think I'll leave the windows open while it's in the garage as well.

Thanks for your tip Alas - have tried the roofbox idea but they just keep pushing the lid open
