Lightbulb Do insurance companies provide replacement items after burglaries?

Its regarding this for sale on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...730321337&rd=1

*The seller is selling it for someone else.
*If you read the ad he says its an insurance replacement, but dont they send you a cheque re burglaries.
*I emailed the seller re a warrenty, but he said it was a replacement by the insurance company and no warrenty documents were supplied.Bit crap on a new £1300 item.

Any opinions.
btw,i'd collect it in person,no way would i send off the money.
The reserve is £700.

Paul,

Yes, these days many do (provide replacement goods that is!). The reason being that insurers are often able to souce identical goods far more cheaply than you or would pay - hence it reduces the cost the claim.

However, as far as I'm aware, the products are normally supplied with the normal manufacturer's warranty.

But, if I were thinking of buying it I would insist on seeing some form of documentation that proves that the insurer supplied it - if they claim that it doesn't exist I'd be incredibly wary.

I would say dodgy.

You don't have to have your items replaced by the ins co.

You can ask for their current value.
