They shouldn't have made the sequel!
Last night, while curled around a mug of Lemsip, I was watching Die Hard (with the directors commentary!) and wondering why on earth they made Die Hard II.
Then I wondered why they made Men in Black II - or Speed II
Then I wondered how many other sequels should never have been made...... any suggestions?
Also - are there any sequels that are actually better than the originals????

T2......are you kidding??????
T2 suffers from the dreaded 18 rated to the "get the kids in" rating. T2 would have been better if he shot that whining little kid and got on with killing people. When he got the terminator to stand on one leg i nearly cried!
same thing happened to leathal weapon series
T
ps....Bad Boys 2...perfect, take EXACTLY what worked first time and do more of it!

Rocky and Rambo are good examples of taking some of what worked first time and ONLY doing that....ie. First Blood/Rocky.....great stories.......all the rest just guns and fighting.

prob with J2 is that it has no actors. when they stuck shaw/dreyfus together they created stars......there was no one in 2 that had that chance so they just hoped the shark would carry it (which was the weakest bit of J1)
Quint shouting "i got me a taxidermist back home gona have a heart attack when he sees what i brought him" is better film than the whole of J2,3,4 (and included Deep Blue Sea as well!) put together!

T2 & T3 are pretty good IMHO
Don't like any LW and Die Hards are OK but just the same story with different scenery.
Aliens was a great film but is it better than Alien is a close call. Alien 3 is OK but had lots of production problems and should you find the uncut version its better when you see them capturing the Alien. Ressurection is OK but the ending lets it down and the queen model is sh$te compared to the one used in Aliens. AVP although not a sequel as such to Alien and Predator was OK but let down by having to conform to a 15 and having a director who tends to make really bad films (Event Horizon being the only other decent film by him)

Godfather 1 and 2 are just about the closest to each other in terms of original/sequel.
Higlander1/2 have to be the most disparate.
How about Fast and Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious. - the first was complete tripe and it was hard to imagine anything worse - unfortunately you didn't have to imagine anything worse as along came the sequel and made it real
tiggers.

Can't forgive The Crow : City of Angels. The original was a masterpiece goth rock revenge love story but the sequel - complete turd!
And I daren't see any of the follow ups to From Dusk Till Dawn.

T2 & Aliens have got to be among the best sequels ever made - and both would have been hugely successful even without the first films in the series.
Watched First Blood on BBC the other night and it has to be best of the Rambo Trilogy.
Speed 2 is just utter poo.
Useless bit of Trivial tat - The original script for Die Hard 2 (or was it 3?) ended up as Steven Seagal Killer Chef flick Under Seige
Not sure you can count Empire Strikes back as a sequel IMHO, the trilogy was meant to be one film, so if you call Empire a sequel, You'll have to call The Two Towers the sequel to the Fellowship...

What They Said.
The most upsetting for me was Highlander 2 - not only was it utter garbage, but it tried to explain Highlander (they are all aliens from the planet Zondarg, or some crap ) and therefore succeeds in royally screwing up the first film as well.
Can't believe anyone liked the original Bad Boys, let alone II (which I've taken the liberty of avoiding).

Alien better than Aliens? Piffle. Directors cut in Aliens is a far more watchable film for me.
Agree with the T2 comment with the whiney kid in it, and the terminator told not to kill anyone, what's that all about!

As for Aliens, the Directors Cut is the only version that should have been released. It didn't make sense without the extra bits.
Alien is as good as Aliens DC (for different reasons), 3 should never have been made and 4 was OK.
Both of the latest Star Wars films were utter rubbish and shouldn't have been made. I can't imagine I'll even bother watching the latest one until it's in the bargain basement in the video store.
All of the Star Trek TOS sequels were worth making, as were all of the not-really-sequels TNG based films.
MIB II was another film that didn't live up to the original, but worth watching on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
Non of the Batman films should have been made.
