1ST speeding ticket??
I have had my scooby 8 months and I think I have just got myself my 1st ticket , I was on a 40 mph road and the police had a hand held gun at the other end, as it was dark I did not see them till the last minute and I don't know how fast I was going, but my question is.....would they have pulled me over straight away if I was breakiing the limit or do they send me a fine through the post??? bearing in mind that it was hand held

I got my first SP30 last year ... hand held unit on a 30 (which I thought was a 40 .. nice wide dual carriagway etc) after 14 years of driving.
Didn't get pulled in and just received letter through the post so don't count your chickens dude.

Both speeding fines I have had have been from hand held devices with photographic evidence on both.
You'll get an NIP within the week usually from them. If Nottingham then in the next couple of days. I got mine basically the next day......very efficient of them I thought.

In your defense you can have a look at the web site: www.pepipoo.com there's plenty of sound advise on there. You may even get off the ticket! Are you aware that they have to send the NIP to you within 14 days. If it does arrive in that time make sure that it is 100% correct - reg no. address, name etc otherwise you might get off with it!

Traffic police are very good at this!
And yes 30mph does often feel slow as does 70 on a reasonably clear motorway.

Touching a large piece of wood I haven't had a tax letter though the door from the police yet!
It isn't really a question of if, more a question of when you are going to get one.
Are are roads any safer? No. Taking my eyes off the road to constantly check my speed doesn't help!
We will all be criminals one day! Just a case of when!

Worth a look on the forums at pepipoo. Should explain what you should expect to happen, and when, and what to do if/when it does (specifically the PACE letter that you may want to return instead of a completed NIP).
