3 Phones
Can you stick a 'normal' sim in a 3g phone and just use it 2g ?
Mate has an NEC 616 and I quite like it, I dont however want a contract as I am getting rid of mine after 8 years cos I ont use it that often but the '3' PAYG looks like a Pain in the **** like the old PAYG mobiles with time limits.

I don't think so - 3 phones use a uSIM - and won't accept a normal SIM....
At least I've tried a Vodafone SIM from an S55 in a 3 (LG 8120 or whatever it's called) phone with a uSIM- and vice versa - and neither worked.

you can unlock them but it really isnt worth it in all honesty although i believe nec do do a phone similar for every network a normal simwill not immediately fit straight into a 3 phone ... have a look on ebay you may be able to get an unlocked one on there
