Local nutters your stories.
When I was at high school there used to be a story about a nutter called the Purple Acky supposed to be a huge black guy so black he looked purple.
The rumour was he targeted young boys/men on there own at night and would rape them and carve PA in their **** cheeks. One of these characters that everbody had heard of but very few people lay claim to seeing.
Anybody else heard of him? Or have any other Bogey man / Local weirdo stories.
A scan on google today revealed the following.
DAILY POST (LIVERPOOL, UK) 23rd November 2001
INDECENCY CHARGES
A MERSEYSIDE man appeared at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday accused
of sexual assaults on 14 teenage boys. Akinwale Arobieke pleaded not
guilty to 50 charges between February 1995 and September last year.
It is claimed he harassed and indecently assaulted 13 boys, indecently
assaulted another boy and made verbal threats of intimidation
involving two of the boys.
Mr Michael Wolff, defending, applied for Arobieke's trial to be heard
in Carlisle.
Judge David Clarke, QC, Recorder of Liverpool, said he would discuss
the application with the presiding judge.
Arobieke, 39, of South Hill Road, Toxteth, was remanded in custody.

PURPLE AKI JAILED
St Helens Repoter December 18 2003
THE parents of a St Helens boy – terrorised by an obsessive and dangerous man who was jailed on Monday – have spoken exclusively to The Reporter.
The couple who wish to remain anonymous, spoke after Akinwale Arobieke – known as Purple Aki – aged 42, from Liverpool, was sentenced to six years imprisonment.
The 6ft 5 inches, 20 stone man, pleaded guilty to 15 counts of harassment and one count of witness intimidation at Preston Crown Court.
Sentencing Arobieke, Judge Slinger said: "You are a danger to young men and your behaviour is both strange and obsessive."
He added: "The sentence reflects the need to protect the public as well as to punish you for your crimes."
The case was mounted against Arobieke after 123 people – many from St Helens – were interviewed by police about his harassment of young men.
The couple said: "Many young lads in the town went through a lot of pain and suffering at the hands of this man. We wanted to let them know that they don't have to fear Purple Aki anymore – he is not above the law as he would have had them believe. We also wanted to thank all the young men who came forward to give statements, without which there would have been no case."
Their son's determination to give evidence against Arobieke forced the family into a witness protection programme.
They said: "We had a panic alarm fitted and video surveillance on the house, but we were determined not to allow this man to continue to terrify young lads."
Over a period of three years Arobieke had approached and followed young men in a sinister and persistent manner.
"He would turn up everywhere our son went and knew information about where he lived and details about us and the rest of his family. This obsessive behaviour progressively got worse and Arobieke would force our son to remote places, where he would touch his legs and arms," said the couple.
"When our son came home one time, he was on his knees and physically trembling. It was very frightening and that is when we realised we needed to act."
During the sentencing Arobieke was also subjected to an indefinite Restraining Order that means he must stay away from all the young men involved in the case, their families and home addresses.
Det Supt, Mike Dale, said: "Over the years Akinwale Arobieke has been persistent in his pursuit and harassment of a number of young men, instilling fear into them.
"We are pleased with the sentencing. Most importantly it's to the credit of the witnesses, who despite their fears and apprehensions, have remained steadfast and determined to see justice done and this man prosecuted to stop him from making other peoples' lives a misery."
Arobieke had just finished serving a 30 month prison sentence for threats to kill.

Personally just found it a bit disappointing to see an 11.01 reply today, that's all...

Bizarre ... I recall hearing about that guy as a kid when I was growing up in St.Helens. Would have been about 1986 or so though? Always thought it was just a variation on the 'black bogeyman' myth trotted out by white racists though ...

Nikko2,
God I haven't heard that name for years! Purple Aki had an infamous reputation in my school as well (I went to school in Wirral) and people were genuinely scared of him. We all thought it was just an urban myth until the school informed us the police were looking for him! His reputation must have travelled quite a distance across the North West.

Ive been in the same room as him, on more than one occasion.(In the late 1980's and 90's)
He didnt like me, and would steer clear, he once spoke to me when I was playing Asteroids after a workout with my bothers at a local leasure centre, he made small talk about gym workouts and how often I trained...but we never finished our conversation because my brother hit him over the head with a snooker cue.
We then had to change gyms and find another Asteroid game to play on.
He would frequent local gyms and accost young boys asking to feel their muscles..
He was massive but so far as I know didnt train for it, he was just built that way.
He was softly spoken, and would be scruffy in appearance, wearing clothes befitting a much older man, ie Cardigans, Farah pants/trousers, and black brogue(sp) shoes.
He would always give me the impression of a sad and lonely man, who was trying to make friends, but went about it the wrong way. Whenever I saw him he would always be on his own. (unless he had captured another terrified youngster that is..)
He could take a good beating too, and could run like a gazelle.
The last time I saw him he was at Liverpool Magistrates Court, this must have been 1998-99 he hadnt changed a bit.
The rumour was that his Dad was a local JP or Judge, and that he looked after his son, so he was untouchable.
Also there were rumours of him chasing a lad onto the railway line at Southport Station who subsequently died........(shrugs)
Sorry I havent read all the links so this may just be urban myth.
He was a bit like a black Benny Hill on steroids, wherever he went he was running after a gang of lads.....(Starts humming the Benny Hill tune) LOL

'Your bro dont take no ****...'
Your right he doesnt, he is a bit of a loose cannon, you have met him, sort of.
Riversdale, he looks a bit like me but bigger with a shaven head.
He was the one contemplating taking the 22B, once he had disposed of the driver.
It would have been amusing, if he wasnt serious, I dont have too much to do with him because he is mad.

I've met him as well
Had just been playing squash at the Oval Sports Centre, Wirral with a couple of mates, when this large black bloke stopped us in the hallway and started asking us if we worked out much and if he could feel our muscles!
We all looked at each other and seemed to realise at exactly the same time that this was the infamous Purple Aki (the rumours had been going round school for a few years).
Don't think any of us have ever run as fast as we did at that moment since! We didn't stop sprinting until we were about 2 miles away and were sure he wasn't following!
(This was about 15 years ago when I was 18 by the way)

We use to have a guy round by me in his mid 40’s called Acabill. He use to chase us and throw stones at us when we were kid’s. He also enjoyed setting fires and getting run over by cars. Haven’t seen him for a few years, don’t know where he’s gone.

There was a story going round our way when we were kids about an old creepy-looking farmhouse nearby. The story goes it was inhabited by an old lady who had a gun that could shoot pins, and she'd use it if anyone came onto her property. Granny PeenGun was her name.
Never actually met anyone that had been hit with a pin right enough.
