Top 10 cinematic car chases
Top 10 car chase/pileups
I'd agree with most of these opions although I'm not too sure about the Rock's chase scene, surely there must be some thing better. What about the pile up at the end of Smokey and the Bandit 2 with all the cop cars getting mashed?

Interesting.
Mine would be (in no real order)
Ronin
Taxi (the original, not the crappy remake)
Bullit
Gone in 60 seconds (the original and the remake)
French Connection
Smokey and the Bandit (has to be 1, 2 and 3 are pale comparisons)
The Fifth Element (ok, ok, it's not a car really)
Getaway in Stockholm (ok, not so much a car chase )

The Ronin chase is awesome but how often do you actually see an audi lose grip like that
The chase in gone in 60 seconds is excellent too
I don't like the Bullit one much because I never felt that the engine sound effects were realistic unless both cars had an 18 speed gearbox I really must watch that properly again though.
Vanishing point (the original) is pretty good though and doesn't get mentioned often.

Duel. Not strictly a car
James Bond movies all have pretty decent chase scenes, so a collective nomination.
The Driver (destroying the car in the car park, so not strictly a chase).
