Insurance question

Insurance question
Last week I dropped a heavy bottle of aftershave into my sink, cracking badly in a couple of places.
Now I have checked, & the type of basin isn't made anymore (its over 8 years old)
So if I claim on my insurance (I have accidental damage) will they have to replace the bath & toilet too ? I dont want a different style/colour basin to the rest of the units......anyone know how its likely to work ?
Cheers

I can never get this accidental cover thing.
If I dropped a bottle of aftershave in my sink I'd just spend the next 3 weeks calling myself a twát, not trying to see what I could "gain" from my stupidity.

Some insurers will still replace the entire suite if one component part is damaged, and a direct replacement can't be found - but others won't.
You need to check your policy wording (or ring the company and ask).
NB - This will be covered by your buildings insurer rather than contents.

Spoon,
Thanks for the helpful comment, typical of lots of people on this board, which used to be full of people who's comments were worth listening to.
Not trying to gain anything - other than a new sink.
Nowt wrong with the rest of the bathroom so don't want anything else new.
I just know I can't get a matching sink & will not accept a sink that is a mis-match on colour & style to the rest of the units.
Will check the small print.
Thanks - to everyone else - for the grown up responses.

On a serious note, I would be amazed if you can find matching sink in that colour/style if 8 years old.
What make is the suite?
I think the insurance company will replace the whole lot, a client of mine broke his toilet (in a cloakroom) after falling over and headbutting it when drunk (true story believe it or not!), his insurance company replaced the brown 1970's toilet and basin with nice new white ones.

If everybody talk more responsibility of their own actions we wouldn't be in a claim culture that's all.
Now run along and finish your lego.
