Just got a letter from my dentist this morning asking for £31 owed from last visit in JAN 2004!

Surely this is their mistake as i paid an amount when i had treatment.

BTW i am at a different dentists now.

Any thoughts from any legal boffs?

Relpy back by first class post explaining the situation and requesting a breakdown of the work conducted. Also state you paid when you had the work done (do you have proof of this?) and question how this could be outstanding for so long.

Make sure its in writing.

From a legal perspective, how far do you want to take it? Are you prepared to go to small claims court over £31? Doubt it if they are either. A polite letter asking WTF they are on about should do the trick.

Failing that, a sturdy brick through the window should do the trick

Wish my dentist bills came to £31.
