Whilst I'm not going to say whether it's funny or not, please bear in mind that there are many people who frequent this BBS that have relatives or know people who are mentally handicapped.
Not exactly the smartest move to mock, IMHO.
Can we have some consideration please?

Not going to get into a drawn out argument, except to say b*llocks - with apologies to Lance Armstrong obviously

Blue Peter? Grrrr!
They had me confused for years.
Sticky back plastic? I never found it as a kid, I thought it must be something really special. No they were using plain old
DOUBLE SIDED SELLOTAPE
Why they couldn't have just called it that I do not know.
*Mentally scared after going into an artshop and asking for sticky back plastic.

I bet you call your vacuum cleaner a "Hoover" as well?
(although to be honest, I always (until just now!) thought that sticky back plastic was something special as well)

Like it or hate it, Blue Peter bringing in Joey Deacon were responsible for the mockery of disabled people that continues in schoolyards to this day.
Kids were, and still are, utter b@stards and whoever at Blue Peter thought that showing this person on TV would generate sympathy amongst it's audience was stupid.
http://www.playgroundlaw.com/cgi-bin/browse.pl?sid=424 Catalouges some of the schoolyard mockery, so don't click it if you are offended by such things.
