Question Booze cruise to Calias

With half term upon me - I thought I would take the kids to Calias / Boulounge for a day trippy and pick up one or two pallets of beer / wine.

Best I can find is 38 quid on the ferry.

Anyone know any promotional codes to reduce the price on either the tunnel or boat ?

Cheers

T.

www.speedferries.com do a deal for £25, but its Dover - Boulogne, not Calais. Should be less than an hours drive to Calais though if you want to try the big booze cruise warehouses there.

Go to Bolougne NOT Calais. Much better place and a cracking hypermarket called Auchan just outside Bolougne which is much better than the one in Calais.

Avoid Eastenders where they sell re-labelled beer and wine from a dirty ****ty warehouse at prices that are higher than elsewhere. Also avoid Eurocite which is set up to make things easy for UK shoppers but is also very pricey compared to Auchan.

Bolougne also better for food etc and a nice town centre to walk around.

Done the beer trip about 30 times so know what I'm talking about but up to you.

Isn't it £25 each way on speedferries? I'd pay the extra just to avoid the hordes of brits around Calais though. Bolougne is far superior as others have said, longer crossing though.

Another vote for Bolougne, much nicer town. Calais is not far if you do get the inclination.

I'd agree with Auchan at Boulogne. You can almost spend a whole day there:

Follow N42 (St Omer) from Boulogne, under motorway, then take first exit on right, marked "Centre Commerciale".
If coming from Calais, it's exit 31 off the A16, turn LEFT across motorway.

I'd not say Eastenders is THAT bad, although dirty it is. They do sell some nice cheap German wines there as well as Asti type stuff, quite drinkable at £1.50 a bottle!
Their beer tends to be English stuff, so weaker, and the same price, or close to that on the Ferry.
If visting Eastenders, take ENGLISH CASH, as otherwise you pay in Euros and their exchange rate negates all you gained in cheap prices!

I saw an advert on the telly yesterday for either the daily mail or express doing trips with P&O for 2 people and a car £9.99 or foot passengers for £1.00
I dont know when this was for though.

No, it's for a return crossing. Quite remarkable value esp. as you're not restricted to specified sailing times. http://www.speedferries.com/speed_visit.html

What's more, anyone planning a trip to Europe next year can currently buy a return ticket for a car and up to 6 passengers for just £50 - even for the peak summer months. At that price it would be rude not to!

Glad YOU can afford it, matey, few of us can, now.
Also, when you'ver had the utter ball-aching drive from oop north to Dover, it's worth the ferry fare for the break on board.
