Default Property Ladder.

Another ***** rich kid to$$er. This series has been really disappointing what with all the losers they have featured. What ever happened to the people who had a bit of gumption and genuine creativity?

Looks like you'll need to watch Grand Designs to find that. Luckily thats on next.

Well, you know what I mean.... I want to watch these programmes to learn something, not to watch some gimp show me how *not* to do it. Ah well....

Did you watch 'The Power of Nightmares' part 1? That was very educational.

Thumbs up

At least he did listen, and decided not to create a 4 bed 'family' home with a tiny garden in the wrong part of town. And they do give you all the costs. He didn't do too bad spending £24k instead of the budgeted £20k, just paid far too much for the property in the first place.

Grand designs used to tell you how much budget, what everything cost, estimated final value, but seems to have dropped that approach now which is a shame. But £500,000 budget for your holiday home, shows what dosh there is in interior design.

Both good progs IMHO.

I don't think the 'downstairs' of last nights property will match the upstairs when finished Bright new wood, concrete replacing old timber, cracks in the walls, inadequate foundations, concrete floors, etc. The 'upstairs' looked good because it was true to her vision, the downstairs will be like any other modern french chalet.

She doesn't really bother me, but we do have a running joke in our house about how every single week you get the "it's day 3 of the project and already they are 2 months behind schedule and thousands of pounds over budget...." comment

The boy did seem a bit misguided, but he did O.K in terms of how much he spent on the work, even saved some money over the plan in some places.

The Downstairs is for her Visitors / paying guest - Be worth booking it up and having all night parties just to upset her, her hubby and felix & Fido (or whatever the kids names were)

.

Did enjoy the bit when she was talking about HER place and Hubby was talking about OUR place - Divorced within 5 years .

Clue is in the question?! By learning what not to do you are learning something surely?

It does seem though that C4 find all of the "difficult" ones to feature on the show. Can't remember ever seeing one person that knew what they were doing?

Grand Designs was good. Shame about the "new" wood used.
Foundations would still worry me though!

32K on a kitchen, if I was hubby, she better know how to cook fine food....!

She looked suprised when the presenter pointed out the Double Oven - She was probably thinking "I hope he doesn't ask me what that thing does !"

The one with the two girls the other week was a total scam. None of the pricing added up and we went from footage of two novices peeling a bit of wallpaper and generally faffing about to a well finished home in a relatively short time.

Also Beeny tends to give advice deliberately late, so she looks good and the owners look like plums.
