Default Multimedia Memory Card (MMC) Upgrades?

Hi Folks!

A quick Q for those more technically minded among us.

I'm looking to upgrade the MMC in my Nokia phone. It'c currently got a measly 35MB card and i'm looking to get a 512MB card. However, i've looked at a few sites about the uprated cards but keep coming back to Ebay and some VERY appealing prices. It looks like i can get a 512MB card for between £25 and £40 but i'm worried about the quality of them at this price. Is there likely to be a quality issue and if so how will it affect the images/mpegs etc? Might they be poorer quality or could it be a case of them not saving?

Also, i'm looking to get a card reader for the MMC and have seen a few on Ebay again. They seem very cheap at sub £5 prices. Is this too cheap? I suppose i'll be getting what i pay for at that price i suppose? Can anyone recommend a reasonably well made, sub £15 option to read the MMC that can connect to a USB in my PC?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Cheers

James

Is it a 6230? Best have a look on here, http://www.expansys.com/forum.asp?code=108417 There was some compatibility issues with the bigger cards, not all of them worked. Unfortunately you can't search on that forum so you'll have to delve through it all... I've stuck to 128M for the meantime with mine, it's OK for MP3's and I've got a card reader on my PC so I can download stuff really quickly

A 6230 related question.

What sort of battery life have you got? Had my phone a couple of weeks and the longest I get is 3 days, without very much use.

Thanks

Hello

With bluetooth switched on, and me checking the time quite alot (I don't have watch), it lasts 3 or 4 days.

I think that's great. I'm not sure why you think that is bad?

Steve.

Aye aye Johnny!

How's the scoob?
I've just bought the 512MB Expansys as recommended by the site linked by Dome so hopefully i'll be able to store a LOT more info.

Apn70,

My battery life is around 8 days but i only have the phone on silent all the time with vibrate on.....oh and i'm not all that poular a person so nobody calls.. lol!
However, i did turn on the bluetooth the other week to experiment with and found the battery lost two bars in a day! I'm now only turning it on at weekends when i;m in town......found that you can search for Paired Devices in a club and it turns up loads of phones......entertaining when some's called their phone 'Britney's Twin'......still couldn't recognise her! pmsl!

I'll shut up now.....

Recently bought a 1gb card for my 6230 from these guys - www.mobymemory.com and it seems to work fine. BUT make sure you read the info about how to format the card on the site. I bought a USB card reader with mine which makes file transfer much faster (and more reliable) than BlueTooth

It's doin fine Ta...back to standard now, ready for sale.

You ever get rid of the Evo ?

apn70.. i'm getting about 3 days max out of my battery, but, i find that quite good.
Bluetooth is always on, and i use the radio for at least 1 hour a day, plus txt's/calls.

Johnny,

Yeah the Evo went to a Welsh chap who runs a rally team. Last i heard he had it stripped out rebuilt and racing on the Ring. Pleased it went to a good home anyway.

Best of luck with the Scoob sale. What you after next?
