Best currency for China ?
Any one been to China recently, as I want to know what is the best currency to buy Yuan (CKY), RMB, Dollars or take sterling ?

I thought that Chinese currency was controlled and that you could only get FEC's,
well it was certainly the case back in the early nineties.
Foreign Exchange Certificates allow the government to keep strict control of the currency.
I also understood that you couldnt get FEC's anywhere other than China.
We were at a railway station in Guangjho (sp.?) and couldnt get back to the HK border in time, the old man thought it would be a wheeze to get the train but gave up after an hour of looking for an info booth
quick walk around with a US$20 and it was aircon cab all the way to the border no worries.
not sure about the current political climate but US$ used to get you anywhere in the world not so long ago.
