you think it is like sharks teeth??????

one hair per follicle - once it falls out the follicle dies (apparently taking the pill stops this happenin in 'younger' people )

The follicle doesn't die after the hair falls out, it just produces less frequent and weaker-rooted hair in balding men, eventually stopping altogther.

The only sure way to prevent it is to be castrated.

Just get your hair cut short (a number 2 is normally good ) so it doesnt look silly (Bobby Charlton comes to mind here )

You're probably ok, poor guy. Hairs come out naturally all your life. This is why there is a finite length to anyone's hair even if they never cut it at all. I think the follicle sheds the hair every so often and starts to grow a new one. You're just noticing the hairs more because they're longer.

'Fraid it's hereditary mate... And it often skips a generation, so you'll be aiming for a Yul Brynner at 22 rather than 40....

I bet Poor Guy wishes he never asked.

Hair falls out naturally and grows back, it's not a big deal.

My Dad was bald at 21, I've hung on to most of mine and I'm 30, but the widows peak is becoming more and more obvious

Heredity sucks.

It is perfectly normal to lose up to 100 hairs a day. Anything more than that, and you are possibly looking at a hereditary hair loss problem, which as far as I know, there is nothing you can do about it. I lose a lot of hair, which I started to get very worried about. I could dredge out handfuls from the bottom of the bath, but I think it looked worse than it was because it's so long. Of course, another reason for the hair loss could be malnutrition. If you're that worried about it, go and see a doctor. They'll soon tell you what the problem is.

Think I'm right in saying hereditary hair loss always follows the maternal line?

I had a problem in my late teens and early twenties with hair coming out when brushing and combing.

Had my hair cut short, grade 2 back and sides, grade 3 on top.

I'm now 35 and apart from a slightly higher forehead my hair is still all there.

Best get the shears out if you ask me.

hereditary hair loss follows both the paternal and maternal line and is a reaction to a chemical called DHT in the body. If you are losing lots of hair i.e. alot more than 100 - 200 a day (there are over 100,000 hairs on an average head) then get down to the docs as it can be caused by other problems. Although losing this amount of hair is normal it is how it grows back that is the main cause of male pattern baldness. Also bear in mind that not many people retain a full head of hair throughout their life and you will notice any changes in your hair far more than anyone else!

Poor guy.........

1.Its not a case of one follicle per hair.I have a really noticable grey hair at the front of my hairline and however many times i pull it out it always grows back.
2.Losing some strands is perfectly normal, dont worry about it.
3.You say you're dads bald, what about your mums brothers,if they are bald then it may not look too good for you.

In male pattern baldness DHT binds itself to the hair folicle causing the new hairs to grow with less density and lengh before falling out again. Losing hair everyday is fine as long as the hair growing back is not affected by DHT. The more of your direct family - (dad, uncles, brothers, grandads) that are bald, balding the more chance you will inherit it NOT just on your maternal side

Don't worry about it too much - not as many people are bothered by hair loss as you may think

yeah and remember there is no cure whatever you may read in the back of mags etc, that is just people making money from peoples insecurities.

Propicia and rogane are the only approved products for hair loss and all they do in most cases is slow down the hair loss

if it gets bad shave it off - simple as that!!
