Can speed camera/radar/laser gun read in the dark?
Got stopped by the fuzz at a road block for speeding on the expressway last night around 10 pm. Claimed I was doing close to a ton and had my photo taken. Other than certain stretches which have sodium lights, the major parts are unlit and I don't recall seeing flashes. Short of an infra-red/night vision speed camera, I can't see how say a laser/radar can read a licence plate in the dark, not to mention photographing it. Is he trying to pull a fast one for some "on the spot" settlement? The front plates can't be read against the headlights, so it can only be from the back and we don't use the highly reflective yellow plates here, just ordinary white lettering on a black background. At the speed I am supposed to be travelling, the fuzz need to have very sharp eyes to be able to read it from a distance, so that leaves only infra-red or night vision devices. Are these available?
