My Rock Lobster Tig Team SL MTB has been stolen
Well, not exactly, but it now seems to have transferred itself to my girlfriend's garage
I wasn't allowed to get a Trek 5.9 Madone road bike - "frivolous purchase/not good enough to ride it/you will look a pillock on it" was her comments.
Not allowed to have a new full suspension mountain bike - "you have a perfectly good existing mountain bike".
Perfectly good existing mountain bike expropriated by girlfriend who recently discovered the delights of disc brakes, but if I'm lucky I might get custody at weekends - she bent the dropout on her Massi Trax on the Jam Jam Biking South Downs jaunt last weekend, so I lent her mine while hers is in the repairers. She now announces "your bike is better than mine, particularly the disc brakes, so as you don't use it in the week in the winter and I ride to work every day I might as well use it daily and it will be here when you want to use it at weekends".
How did I allow myself to get in this position?!?!

I did try sticking up for myself........ We did have the "it's my money, I can do what I want with it" conversation over the Trek but the conversation then seemed to be heading in the direction of "i'd be really pissed off, you'd better find yourself another girlfriend if you buy it"
Think she might be grooming me for total dominance. Might be a bit too late for retaliation........
Lucky she doesn't like my car!

And seriously, if she's that upset about it, you've got problems. It means a lot to you, it's your money .... what's the problem? It's not like you're blowing a lot of money - even a dream-kitted FS bike would never be more than £5k, and you're not scraping the barrel to pay the gas bill, are you?

Ooh er, does she have a basement??
You love it really don't you?
You love it really don't you?
I asked her in an email where I had gone wrong with the bikes, and she replied "You love it. Anyway, I told you. You need me to stop you making a prat of yourself. I consider the chores underlined below [stopping me buying new bikes/nicking my existing one] as a public service commitment".

My comments were tongue in cheek, and i'm not really that bothered about it - the relationship is worth more than a bike (I think ).
I'll get a Madone eventually, and the '05 version is cheaper and in US Postal team colours and looks better than the '04 anyway.
Besides, despite being 9 years older than her and only a part time cyclist I can still thrash her on either of my existing bikes, and she readily admits that As she said, why do you want a Trek when you can outcycle me on your cheapy Bianchi Unfortunately she is a canny northern lass from Bolton and careful with my money as well as hers
Puff
LOL - normally I get to take my bike back home again at the end of the weekend, but not this time Decat back in? Now, there's a thought

Can't you just 'borrow' a Trek 5.9 Madone road bike from a 'friend' who does'nt use it during the winter months. Of course he knows where it is if he needs it during a weekend

I'm lucky - Mrs Moose questioned why I'd specified a Lupine Passubio system. I thought I was going to have an uncomfortable "£200+ for a set of lights!!" sort of conversation, but she pointed out that the Nightmare is a better system all round, so really I should up the spend.

DTS - Ditch the old girl and treat yourself to the ride you want. (Oh, and get a new bike whilst you're at it ).
