websites trading off the back of others....
Was sat with my 5 year old on the pc the other day and typed in the following address www.ceebeebies.co.uk - and what did I get? Personal loan website !! WTF
Obviously my mistake but what is it with these people!
Since then found some others, again by mistake!
http://www.centreparcs.com/
http://www.llloydstsb.co.uk/
I'm sure there must be dozens of other companies trading off the names or incorrect spellings of well established sites
Anyone else found any. I guess there must be a cheap and nasty (nastier) burger website at something like mcdonnalds.com or something.

This annoys me too, I can't understand though why some web developers think this is a good thing to do.
If you were looking for the cbeebies site, its very unlikely that just because an incorrect URL forwarded you to a personal loan site that you would be side tracked into getting a loan
There was a case in the states a couple of years back referring to misspelled domains and that their use by unassociated 3rd parties was illegal.
If it gets your goat enough, report the domain holders to nominet, especially if they are sending you to sites of a certain nature

Screwfix.com, the DIY supplier have registered variants of their domain name already.
You get re-directed even if you enter www.screwfux.com

^^^ things like that are legit, they are done to account for peoples crap spelling, the 'u' is next to the 'i' on the keyboard etc.
Agree that some of the more blatent ones are just plain out of order, kind of got an air of arrogance to it all I think.
