Default Euro mortgage for French property

On the off-chance that someone bothers to read this, can anyone recommend a UK-operated Euro mortgage for purchasing a ski chalet?

I've tried Barclays, any others recommended?

Try the Abbey National. Think they are part of Credit Agricole or vice versa. My parents got a Euro mortgage for their house in Brittany with them.

AbNat were no good to me, but that was as they didn't really understand the Portuguese property market. I got Barclays - great conditions overall, though one serious issue outstanding, but that's more to do with individual staff members than the company. I'm just peeved that so far, the company appears to be backing their individual staff member rather than me

Oops - edit, that wasn't UK operated, that's using Barclays in Portugal.

Question

Surely it's cheaper to get a mortgage in France etc, than pay our higher rates?

Just another thing I can't understand folk saying: "We don't want to join the Euro as we want to be able to set our own interest rates"
Great idea................let's all pay more than they do in Euro land:

Not arf. Find out Euribor 6-mth average, add 0.45%, and that's what I'm paying.

As others have said above are you sure you want a UK based mortgage?? I'm not sure about France, but in Spain you can just walk into bank and get a 70 % mortgage, as long as the bank are happy that the house is worth the amount they are lending you for it. Also the rates are very competitive at the moment, although the Euro is getting a bit stronger against the £ and that is negating some of the advantage.
