Kids paper rounds
Do any your kids do a paper round ???
If so how many papers do they deliver and what pay do they receive ??
Only asking as my son wants to starts one, and the loacl newsagent has offered him a Sunday morning round of about 60 papers, now bearing in mind these have the extra's in them and do weigh abit, he has been told he will need to come back to the shop to reload so to spk. His wage for this little journey will be £3.50
Now is that good / bad or what ???
Personally i think its a little on the low side bet then WTF do i know about paper rounds

Thats about right, I used to get paid £0.06 a paper I delivered, but their company policy was to pay no less then £10 per a week having said that I did deliver 5 days a week.
60 papers will probably take him about an hour after collection counting delivering etc. So £3.50 an hour isnt bad considering his age.

Yeh I'd say it's about average give or take a quid. Since it's just the one day (Sunday) then you don't get much, even though it's a lot of papers. I used to do a weekday round, about 30 papers dotted all over the place, took about an hour after school each night, and got about £6.50/week, so that's why it's better to do Sunday rounds! Slave labour though!
Come to think of it, they should only let fat kids do paper rounds, give jelly boy some exercise.

I used to do a Sunday round. Similar number of papers. I had a basic wage, plus bonus for collecting all my money. If I got all my money in from the round, the bonus was paid, I had to collect monies to cover the total cost of one week's deliveries to qualify. So if one house paid 5 weeks money in one go, and if three didn't pay, I'd still make the total so to speak. Pretty good system, and the Christmas tips were great, about £50 one year.

I had a Monday-Saturday round a long time ago. I delivered 35 papers on a weekday morning and then around 55 on a Satursday, which often resulted in me going back to the shop once or twice to collect more papers.
I was paid around 8p per paper. Although, as suggested above, Christmas tips ended up being the biggest bonus.

eeeee, when I were a lad ( 15 ish - now 33) I did a 7 day morning round with 2 rounds on a sunday, and then delivered the evening news mon - fri, IIRC this got me the grand amount of a tenner. I'd say £3.50 isn't bad for a sunday morning.

I never actually considered that kids actually did a paper round just for the money.
Ok it would be an important factor to a child but if that was the only reason then as said, there are much easier ways of earning that amount.
A paper round for a child is about much more than the money though surely.
Discipline and responsibility to name a couple.

Sunday rounds are back breaking - cant be good for you.
I used to do a weekday round (6 days a week), 20 papers, £8/week. Only used to take 15mins each morning. Stopped that 6 years ago.

Spoon, I'l be encouraging my child to do a paper round, it will give them respect for money early on, they will have to understand that if they want a £40 computer game I will only buy half of it, they will have to save money each week from their paper round to purchase their item...

I used to do a 7 day round - about 40 papers a day in a posh area so on a Sunday I was delivering up to 60 broadsheets & suppliments - 2 full bags - one on each shoulder - it was painful - unsafe to cycle with the weight and a 3/4 mile walk to the start of the round from the shop...
All for £15 per week...But I actually enjoyed it - very liberating - good excercise - good self disclipine on those dark rainy mornings...Would recommend it to any kid!

I used to do 50 papers a day monday to saturday for £3.50 but that was over 15 years ago!
Sounds a bit cheap to me but then, what do I know? My mate used to sort the papers out in the morning, he got a fair amount of cash. Other job to try (if your area still has one) is asking the milk man if he wants any help. My little brother did that everyday and the paper round. Bit safer than delivering papers as theres less people and traffic about.
