they banned smoking in the local indian restaurant. it lasted a week before they were pressured into allowing it again.
also hate the going home from the pub stinking like an ash tray.

I only smoke when I'm in the pub - a "social smoker" - not addicted - not techincally a smoker but I love a ciggie when I'm having a pint - same as some fat munters like a bag of grannies toenails...Except I find their crunching more annoying than the smell of smoke.
I think they should ban Pernod and Gin from pubs next cos I (and Im sure thousands of others) dont like the smell of them...
I know I'm going to get barred from these pubs prior to taking my trade elsewhere - plus most decent pubs these days are air conditioned and have smoking / no smoking sections anyway!!!
I think its just another step towards a namby pamby liberal european state - bunch of noncey doo gooders - if these people where that ar$ed about their health they would be in a pub in the flippin first place...

No I dont but when I get home from the pub I put my clothes in the wash, just like I do when I get home from work or a day out wandering in flowery fields, playing golf or cycling in the hillocks - so what I smell like doesnt matter - I also shower regularly too?

the fact that smoke stinks is just one of the things non-smokers hate about the selfish people who feel free to light up in an enclosed environment.
i hear lung cancer can be quite annoying, can you get that from Gin or Pernod, or even perfume???
fecking idiots

Although I totally agree with a smoking ban, and that non-smokers should not have to put up with passive smoking, it is a bit rich when people come out with statements about how 'my drinking doesn't cause you any harm'. I think you'll find that drinking is a far bigger problem to the country than smoking.
More hours are lost to business thru drinking than smoking.
I doubt many wifes/kids get regularly beaten up because their father had too many **** last night.
How many street fights have started on a saturday night because someone had 'one *** too many'
So your drinking does affect others, get off your high horses.
Geezer

Ban diesels - they are ever so noisy, and I don't expect to go riding on my pushbike to come back covered it black soot and dust from an exhaust. Not only that, they sometimes leave the road slick and oily - its really dangerous and foul!
Ban cigarettes - they are ever so smelly, and I don't expect to go to the pub to come back smelling of cigarette smoke from some cheeky smoker. Not only that, but sometimes they flick the butts on the floor - this is dangerous and foul!
GET A GRIP PEOPLE. VOTE WITH YOUR FEET.
Don't like it? Dont go.

I don't go to pubs generally and it annoys the hell out of me as I would quite happily go down the pub for several socialable pints if it wasn't for the reek that emanates from the places. It amazes me how smoking became socially acceptable since most people hate it and throw up for their first pack or so

Well the Kyoto accord is trying to make sure people do have the right to clean air and a reasonable environment. I should think if someone were to push it and put a trial case through the Eurocourts it would be found that someone DOES have a right to clean air in a work place.

My records stink, so do my record bags/boxes, headphones, clothes, hair and eveything else when i get home.
To put it in perspective, my records have been sat in my front room since saturday night when i used them last- and i can smell the smoke on them from the doorway (non smoking house)
Not to mention im breathing in thousands of cigarettes worth passively every week which will no doubt f*ck my health up in years to come.
Its minging and **** and i for one cant wait for it to go.
p.s
Some people moan about litter, yet are all too happy to flick a cig butt onto the floor and leave it.
selfish morons.

Hear Hear for us DJ's, we have to go where people smoke or we don't earn a living.
ditto with the records/headphones etc... smell disgusting.
Can't believe how selfish the 'don't like it don't go' attitude is.
Basically i've either got to stay at home or i've got to put up with enhailing dangerous smoke???
Those that choose to do something which is so un-sociable and harmfull to those around them should be the ones that have to stay away, not those just out for a good time.
at least diesel engines serve a purpose, ie running the buses, ambulances, fire engines for example. the only purpose of smoking is for the aparent enjoyment of the smoker,
does the fact you'll probaly die of some horrible disease not concern you?

And don't you just hate it when a selfish smoker throws their cig out of the window of the car. Feckin madness if you ask me, dumb *****, just who do they think they are?!
Also stopped going in pubs, due the the stink of smoke and will return once a smoke free environment is provided.
Everyone has a right to clean air, go and smoke outside you muppets who think they have a right to make us non-smokers breath in your filth.
