Got nabbed by mobile radar doing 47 in a 30 about 100m from home. I was on my way home from work at 2pm on a Weds afternoon collect my wife and take her to hospital, as her waters had just broken. Son Mike was actually born 3 days later.

The road in question is fairly wide and leaves a built-up area, but is not in it. It has a grass verge about 6 feet wide on each side, then a cycle path, then the pavement furthest away. No houses on either side, so almost zero chance of pedestrians being in the road. No school children around at that time either. The stetch involved is around the corner from my house, so is very well known to me.

I'm going to send the justice ministry a letter asking for mitigating circumstances to be taken into account and will include the mid-wife's actual record of waters breaking 30 mins before the time of the offence.

Penalty is a measly 100 Euros (abt 70 quid) and no points, because they don't do that here (yet).

So will I get away with it???

doubt it......millions of women break their waters every day.......having kids is not really life or death is it! (as your wife waiting a further 3 days shows!)
