Mp3 player or mobile phone
Right. Decided I want one. If I end up working abroad, I'll but a HDD iRiver or suchlike but until then (if it ever happens ) I want something for my daily commute.
Requirements
256mb min, pref 512mb
USB type (one you can slot straight in, don't want to have to carry extra cables etc.)
Appears as a drive when plugged in. Don't want to have to use 'special software' to use the thing.
Less than £100.
Are the radio's worth the bother? will it be usable on the croydon/london commute (signal, frequency changes etc.)
The other option is to get a phone (nokia 6230?) and buy a 256mb MMC card. Are these as good as dedicated mp3 player? Current contract is up so free to choose, however it has to be an upgrade (on orange) as I want to keep my number and network.
Any ideas/recommendations?

I'd go the phoen route unless you are **** about these things. once less thing to carry and sounds like it will fit your needs. just get a card reader to transfer the mp3's to the phone via the card.

Dracoro,
Please have a look at "MP3 transfer to Nokia 6230" thread. Have just got my 256MB MMC fully loaded with music and am very pleased with it!

Hello
The phone option is a good one, as you will have it with you anyway. I have a 6230 with 256mb as well.
However, as I travel abroad quite alot, I have a Mp3 memory stick as I cannot have the phone switched on a 'plane.
Steve.

don't really wanna cart round card reader stuff. Ideally want a plug in (usb) jobbie or something that works via blootoof. Want to use it to transfer files from work pc to home pc as had enough of burning cd rom palava.
