I was heading north on the M6 yesterday about 1:30pm and went under a bridge. On top of the bridge was sat a white transit van with 'Cumbria CCTV' written on the side. The van was parked side on (perpedicular to the motorway and I could not see it in my mirrors once I had gone under bridge. I was doing about 80mph when I saw it. Begining to get a bit worried that it was a mobile speed trap and that I may receive a letter over the next week or so. Any thoughts?

I've seen a similar van the past twice I've been northbound on the M6!!! Side door opened, camera pointing down!! I can't recall seeing any writing on the side of the can though!!

If you were doing around 80mph....you might be lucky!! Sometimes they'll let you away with that....but it depends on your definition of "around 80"!!!

I do not seem to remember seeing any cameras (despite how I titled the thread.) So you reckon it is a speed trap then?

Does a "Safety Camera" enforcement vehicle have the ability to capture and allow prosecution of a speeding car?

Spotted them a few times on the M6 recently.. Another nasty trick they do is have 2 a couple of miles apart to catch you when you've put your foot down after passing the first one...

You'll probably find it's CCTV van. Nothing to do with speed enforcement...........
