Default Drugs

There are so many news story I see now I believe can be blamed on drugs.

Bloke who ran down the kid and is now claiming money - bet he was high, carrying something etc, kept on going to evade capture

youth who could be be paroled in 4 years - known drug dealer, probably schitzo from the pills.

kids who kicked puppy - I would bet they were out puffing and thought it a laugh...warped perception of right and wrong.

Most muggins, robberys etc are due to the addiction of drugs, and as drug use become more the norm for 12, 13 year olds etc then you've got a whole wave of not fully developed (mentally) youth, influenced by drugs. No wonder things are going down the pan.

Forget blaming binge drinking, most of these kids are on coke / pills while getting pissed up.

What's the solution?

Ted

Easy, allow decent people to legally carry concealed firearms once they've passed an appropriate training course.

If these are minors surely the parents should be held accountable.

Your argument holds no water as the majority of the reasoning is based on your assumptions.

Dig deeper into socio/economic situation. Status, ability for growth as responsible persons. Sense of self worth.

quote "Dig deeper into socio/economic situation. Status, ability for growth as responsible persons. Sense of self worth."

fair points but don't really see how this has changed much in the last 50 years though.

This is not a 'drugs are all bad' type mail, as I've done the lot and I never commited (other) crimes, its just that when I was 13 I didn't know anyone who puffed, and being a bit naughty was nicking sweets from a shop or graffiti etc, but now if your 13 you have so much more access to drugs that it bound to have an effect on social behavior.

The problem is your perception. You say it becomes more the norm, you say most of these kids are popping pills while binge drinking. That doesn't tally with the facts, where surveys say that about 1-2% of 13 yr olds nationally have tried drugs. That leaves 98-99% of those who haven't. You are probably reacting to media hype.

Well obviously puffing on something a big stronger than the norm, as I sure never wanted to inflict violence on anything when I was a stoner ....maybe a crack pipe

You sure you really know what you are talking about ?

I agree that alot can be blamed on drugs ... but

If drugs are legal then there can be tighter contols on their supply i.e AGE LIMITS, i.e kids can't buy them, i.e THINK before you post.

That's one possibility. Another is that more people will get hooked on drugs, more crime, more dangerous driving, more drug-related deaths, more drugs flooded in the country, more houses being burgled, ooh but at least they'll be able to take them in the comfort of their own home. That's nice.

Because Age limits stop kids from drinking, doing drugs and having sex, don't they...

i did most every drug going in my teens and early twenties. I don't remember one crime being committed by my friends or me (other than driving under the influence) whilst on drugs, but lots of antisocial type things happened when we'd all been out and had loads of pints/vodka etc.

I packed up taking drugs about 10 years ago. I still like a drink but I don't go to the same excess that we used to. I really don't think the "blame it all on drugs" argument holds much water. Ok, there are crack heads and smack heads mugging people and burglarizing, but there are p*ssed up youth fighting, p*ssing and puking on every high street in every town. Just ask staff in an A&E dept. if they treat more druggies or drinkies.

btw d_a_s, has the fact that drugs *are* banned somehow passed you by?

ok ok - so i don't actually remember *anything* that happened between 1988 and 1995, but I asked my mum and she said she never had to bring me pajamas down to a police station.
