help needed... cartoon of the late 70's early 80's
it is a cartoon where 5 young kids turn into like super hero's.. a bit like X men.. but they were teenages.
i seem to recall 'Planet' in the title of the cartoon... each had there own special power and they could fly.
nearest thing to PowerRangers of now days... but this was a cartoon.
and their mascot was a Pheonix that would come out of the flames etc
they seemed to travel about in a spaceship type of planes.
can anyone shed light on it.

Defo' Battle of the Planets and their (aka G-Force) ship was called the Phoenix!
Only know looking back do I realise how camp it all was - the baddy (Zoltar) wore lipstick FFS!

Has anyone seen it recently? I was considering buying the DVD's the other week but then decided against it. Rose tinted specs in all likelyhood

I have read the same on amazon. I was going to get the original but it got the potential to be a big disappointment now I have grown up LOL

Gwad, I remeber watching that as a kid!!! What was it they used to scream as they changed, Tansmute or something like that wasn't it.

They are still superb even now

Yeah that was 7 zark 7 with his dog 1 rover 1.
Annoyingly it was put into the UK cartoons because it was deemed too violent in the original japanese Gachaman cartoons
There are episodes where they fly off to sort out the enemy, cut to 7 zark 7 and then all of a sudden they are flying back
Ruins some of them.

)....but I'm not that bad that I'd know the oil However, interesting bit of triv which I recognised and didn't read somewhere until I checked, is that the voice of Mark is done by Casey Kasem who also voiced Shaggy on Scooby Doo.
