Driving to the Croft circuit next friday for a trackday but I don't know what the roads are like from the M6 across to the A1M. Planning on leaving the M6 at J38 then taking the A685/A66 to the A1M, should I expect any major hold ups at 7.00 am on a friday, are there any major roadworks and any speed cameras that won't show on the radar detector.

The road is often quite busy, especially at the single lane section just before Scotch Corner. It's usually moving though.

Watch out for mobile camera vans and for the police at the long down hill on the 3rd section of dual carrigeway.
