I take it you already have 9 points on your license. Depending on if you got caught today and how fast you were speeding, getting 12 points means an automatic ban of at least 3 months and then you have to resit your driving test. You'll need to hope you don't get a dreaded brown letter through your door in the next 2 weeks.

You could try this site it carries most of the info you want.www.speed-trap.co.uk. 8 points or more it's an automatic court appearance ,you could try appealing but deppends how fast you were going and inwhat zone. All the best m8.

You could do worse than try PiPiPoo for advice. You could string it out for the best part of six months; would some of your other points drop off by then?

I had exactly the same a few years back, a traffic light gatso took me to 12 pts, I think I sent the doc back saying I would go to court.
Went to court, magistrate or judge didn't even realise why I was there. I explained that if I sent the licence to Swansea, I would not have got it back, [puppy eyes]then explained that I had come to court to ask if I could keep my licence as I would lose my job, I went into full blag mode and said I would pay extra on the fine Blah,Blah,Blah,[/puppy eyes]
Result, paid the standard fine and got a hand written note on the licence saying "exceptional hardship", but I was bound over for a year to be a good boy.
That was before, the new fancy licences though, not sure how it works now, theres some rozzers on here that will point you in the right direction.
don't be too proud in court, lick ***

12 points is a ban definately but u can appeal for the likes of losing job etc... youve clocked up 12 points in 6 months wow.
I finally had a clean licence in february 2003 then picked up 3 points in march and another 3 in october, nearly been done a couple more times they really are clamping down more on speeding.
Obvious thing to say is dont speed

simplest thing to do is regard your normal licence as lost on 9 points. Thereafter you CAN NOT drive like you used to. its quite possible to drive and not get points you just go extra slow EVERTWHERE.....unless loosing the licence is no bog deal

So potentially he runs the risk of worst case scenario of something like £600.00 fine, banned for 12 months, loses job maybe and also has to re-sit test
My wife or best mate would definately be driving the car and they would be a grand richer if the above was going to happen

That's assuming they were insured, otherwise its TWOC and no insurance, or he gets done for allowing someone else to drive knowing the car was un-insured.......
