Default IT Jobs in hertfordshire available!

Hi,

There are several openings at my company in hertfordshire, if interested please email your CV to me directly. There are development and sales roles available too in addition to this below but I dont have a Job spec for those yet.

The details..

We are a UK-based software and solutions company. Head office is in
Hertfordshire. We have subsidiary organisations based in Denver,
Colorado, USA and Sydney, NSW, Australia. Our products are business
information solutions based on our own Enterprise Reporting and BI system
and Rapid Application Development software.

The Customer and Product Support Group (CPSG) is responsible for customer
facing technical activity including solution design, application
development, customer and internal training, implementation and other
consultancy, documentation, product testing and tech support.

Our customers comprise a wide range of organisation size, industry and
technical ability.

I am currently looking to recruit tech support/product testing/junior
consultants.

The main tasks involved are:
Answering and resolving customer calls by telephone and e-mail
Logging and documenting issues
Follow calls to resolution and keep customers informed
Develop expertise in our own software and methodologies
Run automated testing regime
Analyse and reproduce problems and work out solutions
Maintain and develop product testing capability
Test and describe new software features
Maintain and develop internal applications
Support pre-sales and post-sales consulting activity

The main skills required are:
Good communication skills
Good problem solving skills
Patience and diplomacy
Ability to follow procedures without being hidebound
Commitment to quality and customer satisfaction
Flexibility
Can-do outlook
Ability to work in a team or on individual projects

Preferred characteristics:
Tech support or software testing experience
Experience of using or supporting ERP systems, especially Baan and MFG/PRO
Familiarity with operating systems: Windows, Linux, AIX, HPUX
Familiarity with databases: Progress, Oracle, Informix Online, MS SQLServer
Good degree in a numerate discipline

All CPSG staff, while developing special skills, may be required to turn
their hand to any of our functions. Career development may include business
consultancy, application design, training, QA, core R&D, sales etc.

We're not a huge organisation, so this a place where you can make a genuine difference. This also means the job is likely to be extremely varied, doing sometimes completely different work on a week by week basis. Despite there being a lot of work the atmosphere in the office is relaxed and friendly.

Rgds,
Dan

Pay is entirely dependant on experience and negotiable for the right people, however as a gauge graduate starting salaries are ABOVE average, altho both graduates and experienced staff are sought.

Email your CV to me if you're interested then we can go from there...

Bit too far of a commute, been single handedly writing a fully blown ERP system for 150 users over the last few years, a wider audience is something that sometimes appeals to me.

eh? I guess eh means no. We have in the past offered relocation allowances where required. thats usually aimed at graduates tho.

Of course, to any successfull applicants, i guess it pretty much means u'll have a scoob - which means I will of course be insanely jealous having got rid of mine now hey ho, time to get another

Codek,

Not really looking for another job, but looked at MFGPro, Swan, Navision (before Ms got thier hands on it) etc. but we took the decision to write our own ERP system from the ground up, been doing it for a few years now and rolled it out across the whole organisation, posts live into the Pegasus Opera ledgers at the back end (although have re-written most of the accounts end as well) always good to have contact on a possible share resource level if of any interest.

Hi,

Just to give more details on precise requirements

Essential:
Degree level of education

Desirable:
HTML/Perl/Unix skills

I know the degree thing is a bit harsh, especially to those with masses of experience, but it's not me who's set that requirement.

Would suit graduates of any science disciplin, e.g. maths as well as the obvious computer science. ( Altho if graduates these days have scoobs im not happy! )

Thanks!
Dan

I find it quite amusing that companies still become obsessed with candidates with degrees as a must. Why oh why oh why???? Surely if someone has years of experience and is very good at what they do why is a degree even relevant? Most people I have encountered at my workplaces that come in with 'Degrees' have bugger all common sense. Just my 2p worth.
