Same as a Normal Cheque [ depending on your bankers]

the only difference assuming it is not stolen or fake, IT WON'T BOUNCE

Ok so whats that again 5 working days? I ask because I sent someone on here a bankers draft 2 weeks ago and still waiting for my goods I bought off them, and last I heard (Friday) they were still waiting on it clearing, they said they would let me know as soon as its cleared and goods sent but its been a while! Although on other hand I dont want to keep sending them PM's and annoy them incase it hasnt cleared!!!

I think i'm right in saying Sweden have a system that clears them the same day. So if one country can clear cheques the same day why can't UK banks? Rip off Britain once again I think you will find, especially as a Bankers draught is a guaranteed signature for the stated sum of money, it definately should not be subjected to the same 5 day clearance time.

Oh and they will charge you varying amounts depending on the bank for writing out a bankers draught ffs, that just takes the p!ss, you hold your money with them, they benefit off of it and then when you want them to write you out a cheque for some of your money you have to pay them to do it!
Yeah should be 1 day max!

I sold my old car and handed over the keys on face value of the bankers draft and I think (not sure) could get access to it in 3 days of putting it in my account. I just hope the things I bought turn up soon as cars going in on friday for some work (these are...were part of it!!!) then im going to Italy for a week right after it! Surely you can send something as soon as you get a bankers draft...else a couple days later?

Yeah cost me a tenner to get it made out!

Thing is it comes straight out my account when my bank makes it up, so I cant check if its been banked by him or not!

its not your concern when he banks it...you gave him guaranteed funds....he should give you the gear.

its also the hassle. i would pay the extra just to avoid having to go to the bank.

or do a free transfer that will clear in 4 days (ish) anyway. i dont even own a cheque book!

Sure, if you have made sure that the banker's draft is genuine. I call the bank that wrote the draft (I take the number from the yellow pages, not from the draft), ask for the manager and ask him if he wrote a cheque to me and for what amount.
