Default Dogville with Nicole Kidman

Last night watched the first 10 minutes of Dogville, with Nicole Kidman.

The description on the cover fails to mention that it's not a film, but a filmed play (as in theatre). White lines painted on the floor to represent peoples houses etc:

A complete waste of time and money. If I want to see a play, I go to the theatre. I almost feel they deliberately hide the fact it is an arty play to get more people to watch it.

I'm also amazed that we picked the last available copy out of maybe 20 copies. Either there are lots of arty farty people around here, or many others also wasted their time. I wonder how many managed to watch the full 3 hours...

It's amazing how highly some people rate this film (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0276919/) I think alot of people rate it highly as it was diferent so deserved to be rated better than standard hollywood films.
IMO it was utter crap, turned it off after 10 mins, didn't realise it was 3 hours long!!

I'd sourced that film earlyier in the year - seeing as it had such rave reviews. I assumed it was a workprint or similar and deleted it.

If it's in the recycler I'll give it another go and see how it is.

Your post intrigued me so I watched the ending. What was so great about an entire town being slaughtered?

I had the misfortune of renting this garbage last week and thought that after the introductions fo the characters it would become a proper film! How wrong could I be.

On the plus side though I have recommended it to a few people just for a laugh! Obviously not telling them anything about it!

Thumbs up

Haha - I watched the entire film and have to admit I really quite liked it. After 30 minutes, the lack of set didn't seem to matter whatsoever, and if anything added to the film rather than detracting from it. At least someone out there is making something a bit different, although I have to admit that the pace is a little slow.
I had no idea of the content or style of the film prior to the missis getting the DVD out of Blockbusters.

I suggest you go and rent 'Fast and Furious 2' instead LOL
