Hi All,

Just a warning for any of you who are not local to Kent and have cause to use the A2 going towards Blackwall Tunnel: keep a very careful eye on your speed. I went along this stetch of the A2 for the 1st time today and was amazed at the number of partially concealed Gatsos; most of them are only visible at the last minute, due to being partially obscured by signposts, bushes, or concealed in lay-bys under bridges. Nearer the tunnel, the speed drops from 50, to 40 to 30, so it would be easy for someone unfamiliar with this area (as I was) to get caught out.

I believe the North Circular Rd (north London) has 26 in a 23 mile stretch! (that's both sides of course)

A127 by Progress road has loads

I reckon around a 10 in just a few miles

the a2 has loads, but i was amazed by the amount in southend, must have seen 6 on the mile stretch i walked, plus loads actually in the town

A34, Staffordshire:

45 cameras in 23 miles

One three mile stretch has 12 cameras.

Take the small village of Tittensor. Two cameras in the village (40 limit). Leave the 40 limit and it's back to a 60 limit (used to be 70). Three cameras in 1 mile

IMI agreed, cameras are no substitute for Police patrols! and I'd sooner deal with someone going slightly over the limit than a boy racer recklessly overtaking, tearing off from the lights and doing stupid stunts in the high street. Ditto for people using mobile phones, smoking, doing their make up/shaving etc....
