Anyone recommend a place to stay in Barbados
Looking to book a holiday for next year and like the look of Barbados. Anyone been and can recommend somewhere nice - private beach job preferable.
Cheers,
Simon.

There are no private beaches as such in Barbados - all beaches are publically accessable but not all the beaches are easy to get to.
What type of holiday you after? The West Coast is generally more exclusive and more expensive with the South coast resorts being younger and cheaper.
Virgin holidays or BA holidays are a good place to start - they cover many of the hotels and use scheduled flights. Its cheaper to book a deal than seperately generally.
Amaryllis is a decent hotel and right on the beach and are towards Bridgetown. Casuarina or Bougainvillea are next to each other and closer to St Laurence Gap (the main touristy area - bars, restaurants etc).
When you thinking of going? The Barbados Rally Carnival is on during late May next year.

If you don't stay there, you have to go to Crane Beach, we stay there nearly every year and the beach is stunning and there's a nice restaurant, the pool's pretty amazing as well, but if you aren't a guest, you have to pay to use it,

Sam Lords Castle. Man made beach on an island full of beautiful beaches. Superb.
Crane Beach, if you pay to use the beach you get a voucher redeemable in the restaurant. It really is a nice place though the steps down to the beach are bloody horrible. Go beachcombing and you can find some caves to explore but mind the bat droppings. Sea can be very rough so its good for body boarding, surfing.
You can get to the beach without paying The vendors are "authorised" by the owners. $10Bdos for a sun lounger ... $10Bdos for an umbrella ... bring your own drinks!
