Returning a DVD without a receipt...
This is a strange one.
Bought Bad Boys 2 from Tesco about 6 weeks ago but I only got round to watching it last night - but the disc with the film on is Region 1 and the extra's disc is region 2 - WTF?
Both discs are obviously 2nd hand (covered in scratches) and I suspect that someone who has had the US edition has swapped them at some point (for some reason) then taken it back to the shop.
My dvd player is multi-region so I could still watch the film (but not without hassles) but it's the principle I'm cheesed at - any opinions on how to proceed?

Take it back and talk to them, i have found Tesco to be nothing but helpful. I have even gone back without a product and got a refund.
Got a jar of curry sauce, stuck it in the cupboard for a few months, took it out to use and it had gone all fluffy. It was well within the Best Before Date. I immediatley threw it in the bin. Next time I was in Tesco I explained the situation and they gave me the appropriate refund.
Oh and if you have a club Card, proof of purchase will be held on that.

Yep I bought a pack of doughnuts from Tesco & when I opened it a fly flew out !
Threw it away & when back in there 2 weeks later mentioned it to them.
They insisted I had a refund or a new pack no questions asked.

Tescos could teach a few other companies a thing or two about customer service - at least in the area of handling mistakes and complaints.
I bought some apples the other day, and the guy on the till entered them as the wrong type of apple. Seeing as the type he put in were more expensive, I went to Customer Sevices to point the mistake out, and hey presto, free apples!
(I felt like a bit of a skinflint, but it's the principle of it!)

Yeah, buy another copy, then take your crap copy back the next day (or later that evening) for a full refund because you weren't happy with it
You then get a good copy of the film, and let someone else go through the hassle when they buy your crap copy.
I'm sure they'd be happy to do an exchange (rather than a refund) if you asked.

LOL at all the praise for Tescos. Obviously no-one here has here has been to the Tescos in Pimlico. You will be lucky to find someone who speaks English, let alone give a refund without a receipt.

you don't need a receipt.
a tesco's bag is all that's required according to your statutory rights
i'm sure it won't be a problem, especially as I assume you just want to exchange it.

Obviously, I took the time to bring the mistake to the management's attention, so other more neady customers wouldn't be overcharged. It wasn't at all because I expected to get the apples for free.

My mates daughter used to work on customer services in Tescos, and the service is abused to death. They used to have a policy where if anything at all was found wrong with any product you got a £5 gift voucher as well as a refund. Needless to say, one particular customer had a problem every single week. After about 3 months of it when she approached Claire and stated that the 3 foot long party size arctic roll she bought last week had made her kids sick, Claire retorted "I'm not ******* suprised the greedy little tw@ts!" She had, incidentally, handed in her notice that morning so the disciplinery action would have been wasted, but her managers saw the funny side anyway and upon investigation of the womans transactions, asked her if she would like to shop elsewhere

Asda can 'suck a fat one' as far as I am concerned.
They charge you £1.50 to use their fecking car park, you then claim a refund at the till.
I cannot be arsed finding a space, locking the car, finding a ticket machine, purchsing a ticket, opening my car, sticking the ticket up, locking the car.............all before I get in the shop.
I went in the first time and decided not to buy anything, let's just say there were a few choice words exchanged and I got a full parking refund

aye but its not asda's fault 90% of asda's the carpark is owned by the council (fact) and its them who charge and asda will give u a refund if u shop their so ASDA actually pay for alot of peoples parking

It is their 'fault'.
Cheapskate gits, why don't they just buy their own car park like every other self respecting supermarket does.
now if I could get my hands on some discounted beer...................
