Stop the Scam partnerships making-up stats!
PLEASE HELP!
An online survey from the Avon & Somerset Scamera partnership is here:
http://www.somerset.gov.uk/yourviews/scp/
They don't need your name, just a postcode. A postcode from within the Somerset area will start with "TA".

Q8: Do you think that more drivers are complying with the speed limits:
In 30mph zones? Yes/No
In 40mph zones?
On motorways (70mph)?
How do you answer this one? Sounds like they can use it whichever way they want.
Yes to all three: Cameras are working, more people are slowing down in these zones. More cameras please.
No to all three: People are still driving too fast in these zones, we need more cameras!
Can't win.

I answered all those as no. They are only sticking to the limits where there is a camera. Not just TA postcodes are Somerset, I'm a BA one (Street).
Love the statement: Cameras mean that dangerous drivers are now more likely to get caught, strongly disagree with that one.
Wish they had a comments box.

Done.
Though i agree that the questions are loaded so that they support Camera's what ever you answer. Not like
Do you find speed camera's distract you from conentrating on driving in a appropriate manner.
Essex police have done some thing similar recently with loaded questions and now they talk KSI as deaths have risen previously they spoke only of road deaths! They all employ professional spin doctors so obviously they are very good at manipulating the statistics

have filled it in...will be interesting to see the results after 3000 petrolheaded scoobynetters have skewed their fancy little survey
Anyone can fill it in - you can choose OTHER for a local area, and just put your own postcode in.

At least there are some sensible questions, like about enforcement thresholds in 30mph limits. I happen not to object too strongly to cameras in and around towns - I put 37-38mph as being a point which allows some freedom to look around for hazards without staring at the speedo all the time but still nicks anyone taking the p*ss. Interestingly there's no question about enforcement limits in other zones, though.
There are other fair points for comment too, like 'Cameras mean that dangerous drivers are now more likely to get caught' (erm... no, when was the last time you saw someone getting flashed for being drunk or on their mobile?), or 'Fewer accidents are likely to happen on roads where cameras are installed' (likewise - driver brakes for camera and is struck by tailgater).
