A good site / link for emigrating to Canada
I'm just generally perusing the whole "emigration" thing and wanted to know if anyone has a good link or site i can go on to see what the process is like and if there is any self assessment forms i can fill in?
Canada does appeal but it would mean a start from scratch whereas i think i could get a posting abroad to our Tampa office, but not to sure whether Florida or the whole US thing appeals.
Any help with experiences you may have had with either of the above scenarios would be most welcome
TIA

What the ****? You working for Immigration Canada then Jerome?
Oh, can you send me the list as well, I'm curious to see what you have to say, vs what I would say and what I know. As some might know, I'm living in Canada at the moment, so have some of my own views to share on emmigrating over here.
Jerome - will email you about that beer and the RD dvd's, sorry, been rather, umm 'tied up' over the past week or so hehehehe

I was wondering when you were going to surface. You were conspicuous in your absence.

To all those I've PM'd so far, there is a correction (I can't be ar5ed to PM everyone):
You can now exchange your UK licence for an equivalent Ontario one after taking an eye test.

Want to add something to the above. The exchange IS a hand over of your UK licence. You get back a photocopy of your UK licence. Of course, you could tell the DVLA that you have 'lost' your UK licence and need a nice new one sent to you, thus allowing you to have a valid UK licence for when you're back in the UK, and a valid Ontario licence when you're in Toronto (or anywhere in Ontario)
Jerome - ta for the email, have read, and bar the licence thing, which we've corrected, it's all good.
Oh, and for the lads...
Canadian girls love the british accent, and become very friendly when you talk to them Also helps if you're tall as well, or maybe that's just personal experience
One last thing. If you're into Subaru's, don't fret, there is the Toronto Subaru Club. They are a great bunch of guys and gals, love scoobs, and most things car related.

Having Hooters girls cooing over you is quite an experience: "Hey girls, this guy's English! Come over and listen to his accent"

Well, K happens to like tall chaps, so think it's a personal thing. She does a good english accent as well, very cute.
If I remember right, one of K's friends has something to do with the "Budweiser Girls" ie; getting them events, now that's an interesting contact to have. Wonder if I'd get a good rate to have them at a bbq lol

Further to all my previous advice via PM's, if you move here and open a bank account, do not bank with TD Canada Trust. After 18 months of blemish-free banking with them, they have refused me a Visa card because of "Insufficient credit history". I earn way above average for Canada and I also do absolutely all of my finances through them FFS.

I think there are ways to transfer your UK credit history over, but I'm not sure. Havent they mentioned ways to do this?

There's nothing like hamming up one's "englishness" in the States or Canada.
"Oh my, you *are* english aren't you" lol
The company I work for has recently been aquired by a global giant with a large presence in Vancouver. For me this is great timing as I was thinking of emigrating to Canada anyway. It could all fall into place nicely if I play my cards right......
