Default M25 hold-ups? travel north or south of London?

Heading for a hot rod event this Saturday morning I'll be joining the M25 from the M3 (junc 12) and leaving on the opposite side - A12 to Colchester etc (junc 28).

There's not much difference in distance between north or south routes round M25, but anyone know if there roadworks / holdups at present on these two halves?? Will be about 8 or 9am.

Cheers
HotRod

I'd check the travel news before you go.
Heading south and anti-clockwise, you could get horribly stuck around the M23 / A24 / Clackett Lane and the Dartmouth Tunnel.
Going the other way, you have the T5 roadworks between the M3 and the M4.
Pants whichever way you go and its Bank Hol weekend which means the M25 is even worse as every nutter in the south decides to do a day trip!!
Good luck!

I always find North to be quieter than South.

I'd be tempted to go a couple of hours earlier and go straight through the middle

I've lapped the M25 many times and I also have a better journey going round the top than the bottom. The queues are mainly heading towards the roadworks - by joining at J12 you're joining just where they start, so technically shouldn't be too baaaad.......

Good Luck!

You should not have a problem.

Do a similar journey each week with no real problem.

Just watch your speed in th road works.

Thanks for the replies guys & gals. Looks like I lose either way, so maybe just stick with anti-clockwise as it seems 'right' to me. Hopefully all the traffic will be heading south anyway.
Must set the alarm to 'early'.....
cheers, HotRod

On a Saturday before 10am there's not normally any problems going anticlockwise the only sticky bit might be 5mins of rolling traffic up to the Dartford tolls, but this aint so bad cos once you've paid your £1 you can practice your racing starts with the other 12+ lanes to get a lead position into the pipes !!
