Prodigy - Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned
Anyone else buy it this week
What do you think of the new Prodg album ??
I think they've been taking it far too easy over the past 7 years, it just doesn't have the creativity of past efforts, Music for the Jilted Generation, and Fat of the land were great anthemic albums, is anthemic a word??, looks good though very disapointed with this effort, maybe after a few more listens it will grow, but after all the hype and bull**** that's come from Keith and Liams chops about this release I expected something a little different and something much better.

Another vote for "Experience" being the best. There were a few good tunes on Jilted generation, but Experience is the best, end of. They started as an Essex rave band and all this guitar riffs and slow stuff is a case of extending themselves to a place where they dont need to be.
They should get back to the rave tunes.
astraboy.

This CD is fantastic, I didn't like it the first time I listened to it but after listening to it for a few weeks (you guessed it, managed to get a bootleg copy, but have purchased the original now it was that good) it is superb!!!
It is nothing like Experience, Gilted Generation but that's what happens when time goes by, this cd is far more creative than the others using moer samples etc.
This album is more like the B-side stuff and non commercial stuff that Prodigy did and I have to say...... IT ROCKS!!!
Listen to the whole CD through and it will grow on ya!!
The best ones however are Spit Fire, girls, hot ride & Action Radar!!
*Experience is the Best Album, long live rave *

What evil lurks, experience, jilted generation, fat of the land.
All good- with the best ones being the earliest ones.
Then this piece of garbage....
7 years in the making and its whack.
oops
As for this being more creative?
Do me a favour- the first two albums and singles for years were constructed 99% on a couple of old roland w30s daisychained together, an atari ST and a few other bits of kit.
Was also very sample heavy- but much more sneakily
The earlier stuff had more energy, passion and soul. A lot of this came from wringing the equipment to death to get the best out of it- vastly different approach from todays effort
You can hear a noticable difference.
The early stuff was done because they wanted to- now they do it because they have to (contractually) or to make more cash. They are rock stars now and so far removed from where they came and whythey came from ,which is a shame
P.s one of the best prodigy 12"s i have is a remix of jesus jones 'zeroes and ones' which i have on test press from some time way back in the early 90s. Awesome- and ive never seen it anywhere else either.

Just bought this album on release day (as I have done with all the others).
My opinion, wow. Fantastic.
I know their old stuff is top class and will never fade, times change. and so do musical styles.
I believe that as time has progressd so has the infuence on their style.
I mean I only used to listen to rave, but have since opened my eyes, and i now listen to pretty much anything, including classical and jazz.
I cant get enough of this album and it has not left my player.
One of the best albums to drive to (well drift too).
Id throughly recommend the album.

Totally agree freak when you work with limited equipment you have to work harder to get the best out of it and Ive always thought that playing with hardware you find stuff by accident, software doesnt lend itself as well to that and as the majority of the album was done using reason and (I think) finished off in Logic its like the creativity is still there but has been stifled, thats my opinion anyway before anyone says bollocks!
Ive listened to the album and its very disappointing, girls is a awesome track I think but the rest are very average verging on boring I will perserve with it though.

I used to play Experience and MFTJG all the time, Theres no way he could of followed those two albums up with something better. FOTL was a disapointment i think, and the new single sounds like the chemical brothers.
I hear Maxim and Keith dont feature on this new one??

Disappointing
I bought the new one yesterday and have listen to it twice today as I was cleaning the car . I'm really disappointed with this, as I have all their previous albums and they are great. MFTJG is one of my all time 10, ney, 5 top five albums and is almost permenantly in the car.
The new stuff is bland except for track 10 (name escapes me as the case is still in the car) the best tune by far, only problem is it's already been nicked by BMW advertising the 1 Series

I was quite disappointed with Always Outnumbered... but, I've only listened to it once so far. I was hoping for more of the Fat of the Land type sound, but in that I was sorely disappointed. I'd hope that it's appeal grows with repeated listenings, but right now I don't think it was worth the wait.

Spent about half an hour in HMV yesterday listening to the album - forcing myself to try to like it and depserately pleading with myself to actually buy it and give it a go - but have to agree with the majority here - it sucks.
It's got no passion and aggression like Fat of the Land for example, and that's what made them great. Can't see how it's a Prodigy album without Keith and Maxim anyway! Am v. dissappointed.
