How long were you dating, before Marriage
The "How did you meet your other half" thread has caught my attention, but rather than hijack that thread, I thought I'd start a new one:
How long between first "meeting" your partner, did you get married?
I'm talking about "I met him at work, in January and by March, we were married". Not "I knew her through a friend for 4 years. We started going out in January and by March, we were married"...
Wonder who is the quickest and who was the slowest...

My mate Jon was the quickest I know off. Met his wife end of August, when he was doing some work for her. Asked her out a couple of weeks later, 3 weeks after first date they get engaged, and married on New Years Eve, so all told about 4 months.

Was it purely for a bit of jewellery that you wanted to get engaged?
Why "engaged" with no plans for marriage? Do you see engagement as a form of commitment?

Buying a house together is a bigger commitment nowadays (certainly harder to get out of). However, if there are kids involved then I'd deffo get married

We got together back in 1991. Still not engaged / married. I've been asked a couple of times by the missus whether I would consider it. You can guess the answer
If you want to know the reasons, two divorces in immediate family sort of made me think what's the point if it's so easy to get divorced.

Baby in 4 weeks - other half preferred to be married if she was a mum.
You're dead right about marriage making no difference (although I'll just have to wait and see I suppose) - I'm not allowed near the remote when Eastenders is on...

TBH - we both thought it would be a waste of money but then thought we might as well - her dad has referred to me as the son-in-law for years.
