Question Any Kings Lynn Wallers ?? :-)

Thinking of buying a house in Terrington, St Clemments, Kings Lynn

The house is ideal BUT what's it really like in this neck of the woods ??
(oil central heating and all !!)

Anybody got any views on the area ??? Live nearby ???

Friends used to live in Terrington, not a bad area, Kings Lynn itself is a bit bleak, but some good restaurants. Out of town, the coastal areas are great, and if you have got kids, they will love it as you are quite close to some good areas.

Cost of living is reasonably low in this part of the world, like everywhere it has it's crime, but it is nothing major to worry about.

Subaru dealer nearby in Downham Market, Thurlow Nunn, if that is of concern who, I understand are a good bunch, although I have no personal experience of this.

You are about an hour away from Norwich, with the attractions of premiership football (for one season at least anyway!) , good shops, good nightlife, etc.

House prices are strong in the Norfolk area at present, with seemingly little doubt about a drop off, so don't let that put you off.

Hope this helps, but if you need any more info, let me know

I grew up in that area and so know the it really well. If clubbing is your thing then it's prob not the best area to be in. However if you enjoy wide open spaces, miles of empty sandy beaches being only 20 mins drive away and village life it's a great place to be.

Roads tend to be really bumpy due to the peat drying out and forming cracks, but being flat there you can really have some fun because you can see for miles.

Winters tend to be really cold, due to the wind chill.

KL is an interesting town, both historically and present day.

In culture it's probably 20 years behind say London, which I personally view as a positive as a lot of the 'ned' culture has'nt hit yet. It has it's problems but nothing like a city.

As Neil said above, beach about 15/20 miles away, but will not take long and well worth while when you get there. Hunstanton is a nice, if quite small, traditional seaside place, so plenty for the kids to do, and there are lots of other great things to do in area for kids, including Sea life centre at Hunstanton, Dinosaur Park between Fakenham and Norwich, plus the broads, etc. Other really good places to go closer to K Lynn though, including Brancaster, Wells, Blakeney, etc. Trips to see the Seals at Blakeney, always good for younger children, blimey I think I should work for the tourist board saying all this stuff

Coming back to the house prices, well like everywhere people are twitchy, but there are no signs locally of a crash, and it is much different to say London/South East. By the way, I am NOT an Estate agent, so cannot state this professionally, but by speaking to people closer to the property market than I am, they still appear very confident in the local property scene.
