Default Finding a new IFA

My IFA has retired recently. He's been a family friend for years and hence was very good to deal with. I've been more than happy with the advice given and selections made (mortgage, savings, life insurance etc).

Tips for finding a new one? Any good questions to be asking? Particular qualifications to be looking for?

I'm waiting to hear what the company he worked for will be doing but I don't want to just blindly stick with them. They might decide not to have anyone covering this area any more, in which I need to search

I've found a few sites that search for IFAs in your area but that would seem to be the same lucky dip as opening up Yellow Pages and picking an advert at random.

I would ask friends but he did work for most of them too (not to mention my folks and sister).

TIA,

Chris.
