Don't be too hasty mate. I went through exactly the same scenario and got rid of my beloved Rhodesian Ridgeback. The upshot was my daughter's asthma and eczema got no better even after the dog went. If your daughter is like mine then house dust will cause more problems than the dog.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing...........

Sometimes there is a local Lab' society or similar who will have a list of peeps looking for a mature Lab' and they will ensure that mutt is given a decent home. We had to do this once for a Spaniel and it was nice to know that she went to a good home. You could also post message in local vet/s. But note Tony's comment above. Perhaps a few weeks in kennels or with a friend might indicate if she really is effecting your daughter's health?? D

Tony, good suggestion and a trial separation may be worth trying. However, I have the same problem (allergy to dogs) and generally the symptoms can persist for a long time after the dog leaves because the dander stays in the carpets and fabrics around the house. My parents bought a flat where the previous owners had a dog and I got wheezy there for a few months after the dog had gone, even after getting the carpets cleaned.

Is the doctor sure she is allergic to dogs? I only ask this because we had our dog about 4 weeks ago and the moment we got her, my asthama kicked up, I've not had an asthama flare up for abour 15 years . I went to the doctor and we gave me an inhaler and a flow chart thingy to take readings at random times to see if its effected.
I took readings at home in the morning, afternoon (at work) and in the evenings (home) and they we all roughly the same. When however I went away from home on a business trip my lungs were fine. We thought it must be the dog but whilst coming down the M1 to Brighton I noticed my breathing got worse. So on the next trip I took readings from Huddersfield all the way down to Brighton, the further south I got, the worse it readings were, so the doctor thinks its related to the air us southners get.
Also the fact that at home, I've been installing a new bathroom for about 4 weeks, and at work we got huge building works going on in the ground next to us. Its most likely the dust mites.
Anyway
Where abouts are you based? I'm just wondering if someone will offer to look after him for a few weeks, maybe longer....? to see if this makes an imporvment to your daughter? But as ajm said, it could take a few months for a noticable change?
