Question Getting rid of a cold FAST!!!

Got a stinking cold and for some weird reason lost my voice too, anyway I’m feeling proper ****. Thing is I’m going to Global Gathering (dance music festival) tomorrow and I don’t want to feel like this, so dose anyone know how to get rid of it for tomorrow??

Took all the usual vitamin tablets and lemsip max strength capsules but I feel no better.

Most cold/flu remedies are just flavoured paractemol anyway so dont bother paying over the odds for them.

Not a lot you can do but try steam inhalation to release blocked nose/throat before you go.

Take loads of paracetamol/ibuprofen and pseudoephedrine (generic decongestant) to mask the symptoms, keep well hydrated and nourished and wait for your immune system to start killing off the virus, that's all you can do!

Rest
Drink Lots of water
Steam (bowl full of with a towel over so you inhale it)
sudafed co

I hate working when i have a cold/blocked sinus'- the above does get rid of it quicker, although getting rid of it in 24 hrs is pushing it slightly...........

I tend to boil the kettle and as it starts to steam breathe in although it does start to get hot it'll kill off any infection in the throat/lungs/nose pretty quickly

Soluble Vitamin C tablets (99p a pack from Asda/Tesco) help me out every time I feel a cold coming on. In fact, I never usually get as far as experiencing the full-blown symptoms! They have 1000% RDA of vitamin C in them and I always have a few pints of water per day with these in. I have no idea why they work but it does the job every time.

...but as the common cold is a virus, the purpose of steam is to alleviate symptoms. Steam does not kill viruses.

Harry Boy was along the right tracks. . .
When you fell a cold / flu starting take 2000mg of vitamin C per day as your body will need it. Drink a reasonable amount of water, but DONT over do it, too much is bad for you. And drink neat Whisky or other strong spirit that you like as it will help kill off the germs etc lurking in your throat.

Do this and 24hrs later you'll feel loads better.

As a long term thing, eat garlic on a regular basis or if your not keen on garlic, try the garlic tablets. It works!

At best doses this high are pointless because your body can only make good use of a small percentage of what you are taking. At worst it could have harmful effects like kidney damage!

Max safe daily limit for vit C is 3000mg, anything over that is bad for you.
2000mg is a safe dose, and your body will take in as much as it needs, and it needs LOADS more than normal when you have a cold /flu.

I take 1000mg of vit C every day of my life.
