Cool Just had my council tax re-evaluated...

...DOWN!!!

Get in - got a letter saying my house was being re-branded from Band B to Band A - a saving of £135 a year and It's being backdated from 1 April 1993! Didn't get house til August 1999 but still means a nice little rebate coming my way.

...I love the council...

I got knocked back on mine I bought it in '96 for £37k and appealed that it should be in "A". They reasoned that in '91 it was worth more than £40k and only the temporary drop in prices pushed it below. Previous owner took a £12k hit when they sold it to me, I'm now selling it for £95k Not a massive gain in the grand scheme of property speculation, but better than the previous owner did

Where can I find the value of my house in '91? I have tried Land Registry but it looks like they keep only records since '95.
Thanks.

Odly enough, the g/f's parents were sent a cheque for £1500 or so on the house the moved out of back in May. Seems the new owners have complained about the band the property is in, the council gave in and back dated the payment and sent a cheque to the g/f's parents.

I'm just trying to find out how I can my place rated at below a band "A"
