Sony W1 or Canon S500
Was looking at the Canon s500 or the s430/410. However the NEW Sony W1 is on the market.......seems to have those little extra functions that the canons don't.......any thoughts

Agree with alcazar, buy the Canon, made by camera people, want a stereo? Buy a Sony.
Just my opinion but camera companies particularly like Canon seem to make the best of control layout and make th picture taking experience easier and more intuitive.
