Default New Ebay seller

Hi,

I need to sell some bike parts in the next month or so (putting bike back to std before selling) and Ebay seems the obvious route to go.
I'm a bit daunted by the prospect of packing and posting bulky items.
I presumably need to get them packed + an estimate of postage before I put them for sale.
Any advice on where to get packing materials and the best place to handle postage/postage quotes?

Thanks for any help.

Simon

i have used those for loads of stuff...even sent some alloys to NY in them!

yep, same as tiggs, i ask at shops for boxes, sometimes i even get a nice used bit of bubble wrap, with heavy stuff i take them to the post office and put them on the scales and get the postage prices from there,

failing taking them to post office if you have some posh bathroom scales that can do KG then get a rough estimate off them then just quote using royal mails website as below Im guessing if they are bike bits them they will be quite heavy so parcel post is the best way to go

Yep I agree with scoobywagon, I have been selling on Ebay and QXL for quite a few years now and a set of scales and the book from the post office telling you postage prices per weight (or their website), is great. Generally your chepaest option is the parcelforce standard parcel option which generally takes 2-5 days, in my experience this is the chepest and best way to send as you can also cheaply insure your items you sell , i.e £200 of insurance is as little as 50p extra.
Go for it..

In all honesty Ebay is actually the cheapest place to buy jiff bags and bubble wrap etc, i buy all mine in bulk from a guy on there, an example of the price difference. I bought 50metres of buddle wrap on ebay for £11.99 + postage, where as in staples for example that would cost you well over £30.

I buy bubble wrap, pay £14 ish for 100metres + free delivery. Maybe, "buddles" are more expensive...
