Default Tax Disc Question

Hello everyone.

I picked up my MR320 yesterday, but the tax disc is still at the docks (in the post to me). The car is fully registered etc, and completely legal, however just no tax disc displayed. What are the legalities associated with not having your actual tax disc on the vehicle...what would be the punishment if it was illegal....points? slap on wrist? fine? or producer?

Cheers,

Matt

£200. How do you know if you don't have the tax disc? ...I'll probably plead ignorance and say I didn't realise it wasn't in...and will contact the dealer asap, and hopefully they'd let me off. I could understand if the car wasn't taxed, but it is! pain int ar$e.

Cheers,

Matt

It is an offence not to display it even if it is fully taxed, so that is the risk you will be taking. It is even an offence not to have the tax disk in a waterproof cover on the windscreen!!

Not that I would condone this sort of thing, but with a valid tax disk from another car, a photo printer and a scanner, you can knock something up that will make your car look as taxed as it actually is.

I mean, it's not as though you haven't paid the tax, is it?
