Well, I'm out of plaster now
After a visit to the hospital this week, they removed my plaster.
It came as a bit of a shock as i was only in plaster for 2 weeks and 5 days
When it came off, the scar was held together with 17 metal staples. It looked like somthing from a Frankenstein movie
When they started to remove them with wirecutters/pliers, the wife passed out !
Its quite funny, i ended up comforting her as she was laid out on a stretcher looking rather pale
Anyway, i have been told that the metal plate will hold it in place.
My wrist has siezed and my thumb wont work at the moment.
I have been given a course of physio to do.
This is where you lot come in....
Could any of you think of any good wrist exercises i could do to build it up again
Greg

I have got a phobia of staple guns now
I dont think the compensation from the CICB will be that much.
Now if i had burnt my mouth on a hot coffee at Mc D's, that would be different

"Bone shattered"
"17 staples"
"Permanent scarring"
"Emotional scarring"
"Possible disability"
You're in for a tidy sum IMHO.

Someone I know was in a car that was hit by a stolen car.
She suffered a clicking jaw after the incident due to banging her head on the b pillar.
She underwent an op to correct it and got 5 figures +
I'd have thought you'd get more than that, especially when you labour the fact that you "can't sleep at night" and that your "relationship" with your wife has suffered cos she thinks you're like Frankenstein!

I am already suffering a fear of staple guns
I have sent in a comprehensive claim form to the CICB saying pretty much what you have said. But knowing the justice system in this country, i am not holding my breath.
There are other details that i have left out on here. The outcome of this incident could have been much worse

Good luck with your claim. I don't think you will have the same problems making a claim that I did a few years back, but be prepared to jump through all the hoops if need be.
The CICB initially rejected my claim and I had to take it to appeal. The police had lost all the papers related to my report of assualt, all they had were the photographs taken at hospital. I swotted up on all the details ready for my big coutroom scene, proper Petrocelli I was going to be. When I got infront of the panel they said "We hold you in no way to blame for your injury. All we want to know is, how is your eye now?"
You could have knocked me down with a feather. A year arguing with them and going through the whole process of appeal and then they accepted my claim without a question. I think they do it just to try and weed out the bogus claims, so just be aware.
BTW, I checked the tarriff calculator on the CICA website, assuming you smashed radius and ulna and also add the scarring and you are looking at more like 6k. It depends on what level of scarring and to what degree you will suffer some loss of strength/mobility in your arm. Any emotional scarring will increase that further.
A chat with a personal injuries lawyer might be interesting, you might be able to sue the ******* personally for what they did. If they own property you might stand chance of getting a second payout.

My car insurance has appointed me a solicitor last week, but as yet i have heard nothing from them.
My wife seems to think that they are a large reputable firm.
I checked the yellow pages and it would appear they also do PI work.
I am going to give them a call in the morning.
When i came out of hospital i went to the CAB for advice. They provided me with the CICB claims form and also gave me the number of the motor insurance bureau. The MIB did not want to know. The CAB told me to just fill in the forms and send them off.
I spoke to victim support, and they confirmed this.
I know that the alledged suspect has been allocated a solicitor.
Its a great world we live in

Nice one Greg!! Glad your out of plaster
Thought about one of those "stress *****"? either that or squeeze your nadgers
My mate got annoyed with his staples (32 in his leg) - one night, he downed a bottle of "Steamer" and pulled them out himself
See you soon m8
