Have a look at the following link -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/3809659.stm
Quote for me is - "I've spent £16,000 on it and I plan to keep on going. I'm putting a two litre engine in next."

The car was spotted at a motor show and he was asked by organisers to enter the Max Power show.

Better spending his money on the Corsa than dealing drugs or whatever!!!!
I saying that (1) Maybe that's how he pays for it all since age 17 or (2) Drugs inspired the looks of it.
The exhausts look terrible - like two screw on Halfords trims!!!
Good luck to him - all that money and some idiot could totally destroy it on road or through jealuosy. Should have bought a 1993 WRX for a lot less money and enjoyed that more!
Then again - do we want that Max Powered up!!!!!!!!!!
Mmmmm

David's right each to there own, I admire the guy for having the guts to spend £16000 on it, although I can think of a few different ways I'd spend the cash. Should have looked after the performance first . Good luck to him in the comp. but still, the best looking car in the country, come on!

BTW - just for the record I think it's 'orrible......
The best looking car in the country is the 3 1/2 litre supercharged Bentley at the National Motor Museum. Old No 1 IIRC. David
I spoke to Doug Hill who is in charge of the museum and drives the beast who got a real kick about telling me he got pulled over for doing well over a ton in the thing. He said the biggest problem about driving it was that it did need notice to stop and driving an "old banger" meant that people tried to nip out in front of you thinking you had the reactions of a modern car.
Oh those were the days.......

will show off the Corsa at one of the UK's biggest motor shows - the Max Power show
The final 100 performance cars are being judged in award categories including best body styling, best paint job, cleanest engine bay and lowest car.
Chav reporters who confuse spending loads of money in Halfords with performance are as bad as the chavs themselves.

I always find the tone of some individuals responses to threads like this highly amusing... Tell me, what exactly is this kid doing that is so different to the majority of "enthusiasts" on this site?
Bigger Wheels? Exhaust Upgrades? Bodykits? How ironic.
I agree in many respects - the car looks crap (IMO) , but a lot of time, effort, and money has been spent on it by someone who cares - he obviously thinks it looks good so leave him to it IMO. Each to their own.
I'm sure the likes of Harvey, David Wallis, and the other "big guns" have spent what some would regard as "ridiculous" amounts of money on something as lowly as a "Subaru". Honestly, what Chavs - Why not go out and buy a Porsche, or a Ferrari?!*
K.
No offence is intended to Harvey/David in the above post by the way - simply trying to make a point
*Although obviously an Impreza would have it in "the twisties"

I agree with you Kelvin. the car is an absolute crap heap but the guy is young and its his hobby. Just how my Corolla Gti was when I was his age. Now I've moved onto an Impreza.
People always slate people like these when they are so not so different from most of the people here. He has taken it a bit too far though. It does amaze me that anyone could spend that much on a £3k car. Surely a £19k E36 BMW M3 cabriolet in Estoril blue would have looked a lot better.
Wonder how much it will sell for! can you imagine how much money he will lose!!

Fine, he wants to modify a car, but spending £16K on a £3K Corsa seems over the top. If he had been spending his money to improve handling and performance, getting to grips with the mechanicals of the car, then I would probably see his point, but to take a **** box (and my god are they), clad it in glass fibre and parade about in it just seems a little sad to me.

Respect to the guy for working hard on his car.
He's 20 FFS, from what I understand about that age / insurance, ins co's would laugh in his face if he tried to ins a "performance" car.
Each to their own...I would have been proud with a car like that when I was 20....though I couldn't afford it as I "wasted" my money in other ways.
Nice to see a young guy with a passion for something other than clubbing, drinking, drugs et al.
He's also a member of the younger culture where "maxing" cars is a growing hobby - I actually think his car has been done reasonably well...certainly better than a lot of "performance / modified" cars you see on the road, and that includes scoobs !

what a load of complete bollocks.Once he has declared all the cosmetic mods to the insurance company (assuming he has insurance) it wont be far short of the price of insuring something half decent to start with.

Interesting TC !
Perhaps my ins co is on it's own with the stance "you can make any cosmetic modifcation you choose, providing they are declared and logged (including photographic evidence). The only modifications that will increase the cost of cover above it's present level would be modifications to the internals of the engine, or an engine transplant".
Guess I'm just lucky

AFAIK any modification which makes the car look more appealing to the opportunist theif will hit you hard in the pocket especially for 20 year olds

Presumably he is notifying his insurers of every mod - even Liverpool Vic woud have something to say about that lot!! Wonder if he keeps it on the road
Even when I was a boy racer at 18 that would have looked very silly to me but its up to him I suppose.
Personally, I'd used the wedge to buy a proper car and enhance it subtly - at £5300 ish a year on mods he could have had a wrx that could have matched CRD's at the shootout!! But i live in a scooby blinkered workd - hey ho
