Can this work Re: Fuel Increases ?????
Got this in an email tonight......
Might be worth trying......and I know there will be those out there who will poo poo it as usual, but I live by the code, nothing ventured nothing gained.....or as our SAS mates say "Who Dares Wins" !
Hi all
Sorry for disturbing you, just got this email and thought it deserved to be read and passed on.
Here it is:
You might find this of interest
We are going to hit close to 89p a litre for fuel by the summer.
Want petrol prices to come down?
We need to take some intelligent, united action.
Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a
certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May!
The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by
refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.
Please read it and join in!
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us
to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP at 77p - 80p, we need to take
aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace not sellers.
With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.
The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone
in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol!
And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest
oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be
inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers.
It's really simple to do!!

petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at
this
point...
HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE
Action:
It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol
at Shell, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons (75p) Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso.
Kind Regards

As I've said before...."Not everyone has the chance to sit in front of Scoobynet all day every day" We don't all see everything therefore that appears on here.
As for the content of this thread, I cannot be held responsible for TTP as you so quaintly put it, since I didn't generate it, it came to me in an email tonight as stated at the top.
And, no , I wasn't forced to post it, I just thought it might be of interest to some people on here.
What's so clever about having seen something before? THAT fact remains a mystery to me.

The reason is, it's chainmail junk spam.
The content of the email is flawed for one. It won't work.
Secondly, junk email & spam clogs up email systems. Do you normally post junk email and/or spam on Scoobynet? This one is no different.

Thanks Olly K but I don't even have time to scan 3 days worth of threads...... and sorry fellas but I posted that in all innocence, why instead of slagging me off didn't someone point out it was spam in the first place ,?? I hadn't seen it before, it was sent to me by a reliable friend therefore I had no cause to query its autheticity.
I do apologise for wasting your precious time .

Apparition - unless you are a very slow reader (that isn't meant as an insult), it should take no more than 20 seconds or so to scan a page of threads to have a look and see if there is anything similar to what you are planning to post. You don't have 1 minute to spare and yet you have the time to post 8 times yesterday and read the e-mail from your friend and copy and paste it in to a new thread. Again not a dig, just an observation.
On a note to try and be helpful, if an e-mail suggests that "this is a great idea" or "this really works" or "send this to everybody you know" then that is usually sufficient reason to delete. Just because a friend sends you something does not make it valid, that's how viruses get propogated so easily.
You may also find Snopes as useful site to check out if the stuff you are getting sent is SPAM before posting. These links refer to various fuel e-mail that have been floating about since the late 90's:
